Swan River Wine Cruise (Captain Cook)

A day full of sunshine and wine…who doesn’t want that?! You can imagine I was pretty stoked when I found out I was about to explore Perth’s famous Swan River with a lot of wine-tasting on one  of the Captain Cook cruise boats. With this cruise I could take another person for free, which made it even more fun.

This tour is probably the only one where I didn’t have to get up at 6.00 so that was another good thing. The boat left Perth’s port at 10.00 and we had a very nice outside to enjoy the sun. Muffins and coffee/tea were served on board and after an hour we could already begin with tasting the first wines. We were given a nice cheese platter and the wines just kept coming!

In the meantime the cruise gives a beautiful view on Perth city and the Swan Valley. The skipper tells some history on the way and the wine made everybody talk to each other. After a while the boat docks at one of the vineyards where there was more wine to taste. The atmosphere was great and people were starting to get drunk already…

After some more time we docked at another winery where we had a three course lunch. We were seated with random people so it’s a great way to get to know each other. And yet again, the wines just kept coming! The food was delicious and if you weren’t tipsy before the lunch, you probably are now. On the way back we could order more wine and some of the crewmembers were entertaining us with songs. It turned out to become a proper party even!

I guess it’s fair to say everybody was disappointed this day came to an end, but that we would all recommend it. What is a better way to explore the Swan River than with Swan Valley wine-tastings?!
